Open to children in all grades K-12. March kicks off leatherback sea turtle nesting season in Florida! Join us to explore the anatomy, diet, nesting habits, habitat, range, and survival threats of the largest and most migratory of all the sea turtle species through a classroom lesson and hands-on activities. Participants will also conduct a beach cleanup (weather permitting) to assist in keeping our beach a safe and litter-free nesting environment. Please wear appropriate footwear for the beach cleanup and bring your own sunscreen, hat, and water. Gloves and trash bags for the cleanup will be provided.
We are only able to allow one parent per family in the classroom due to limited workspace. Parents do not have to remain in the classroom, however, they are required to remain in the building or on the oceanfront deck in case of emergency. The program begins promptly at 2pm and will end at approximately 4pm.
