One of the major tourism-related events I look forward to each year is the Florida Governor's Conference on Tourism. This event allows you to network with industry leaders as well as representatives from Chambers and CVBs from throughout the state of Florida. Whether you are interested in social media and the digital age, how to structure meetings, or learning about how the global economy affects tourism, you simply cannot put a tangible value on the information you will take away from the event. I was fortunate this year to sit in on the following sessions:
The other feature that is so valuable to this event is the ability for you to promote your own organization. I took a stack of Cocoa Beach welcome bags as well as Cocoa Beach Area Official Visitor's Guides and they were a hit! It was amazing to see conference attendees from Tallahassee, Miami, Tampa, and various other cities walking around with a bag and/or guide. This is definitely something I will continue to do in the years to come because it gives all of our CVB partners an additional layer of exposure to industry professionals.
In conclusion, I truly learned a lot about the emerging tourism market to Florida which will better help me, and the CVB as a whole, promote the Space Coast to these groups as they travel from all corners of the world to indulge in our many treasures.
Until next time,
